A Case of Cerebral Infarction in Atrial Fibrillation Caused by Interruption of Warfarin Therapy for Colonoscopy

Abstract
75-year-old man was admitted to the emergency department with dysarthria. He had been taking warfarin because of atrial fibrillation and had a CHADS2 score of 5. The warfarin therapy was interrupted in preparation for colonoscopy and the patient developed a neurologic deficit 3 days after interruption of the therapy.
Magnetic resonance imaging identified a cerebral infarction in the right frontal lobe. The patient was discharged after conservative management.
